Facebook: A Fake Picture of Reality

Facebook is estimated as the most popular social networking in the world. I read somewhere that facebook has more than 500 million active users. (not sure about the stats, but without any exaggeration it can definitely be a true number)  What makes the fact that addicted facebook users are increasingly growing nowadays?

We share links, videos, pictures, news, ads, events on facebook based on our thoughts, views, likes, dislikes and in general, how we think, what our perspectives are and what factors are important for us. Not a problem, it’s very normal but what happens if postings are with the intention to scam, to fraud or to make our own monatory profits? I am not delving into reasons which make some facebook users to misuse it. But let’s talk about one reason which scares me about using facebook as a health promoter. In my everyday facbook surfing, I ask myself, are we truly responsible towards what we post in our page? Do we really understand how our postings can influence our friends, friends of our friends and generally those who are in our network? Do we post videos, pictures and links with the intention to inspire or brainwash our audience in a way to reach our own goals? Unfortunately, you might agree with me if you notice the number of likes and comments to fake postings and the way facebook audience react toward the reality and the fake picture of reality in this magic mainstream.

Fake picture of fitness and health reality is something which bugs me a lot.  These days, Facebook has changed to a free venue for some fitness models who show themselves as the true representatives of health in the society! Worse than that is the reaction of naïve people when they portray fitness models as their ideals and and compare their own physcial characterictis with phsycial characteristics of models in facebook. What would be the result ? Well, in short term, more respect, value, credit, rewards and MONEY for fake representatives of health and in long term, disappointment, depression, emotional eating, lack of self confidence for those who trust naked photoshopped fitness models as their savior!
